Jetting Paraffin Plug in an Offshore Pipeline

Background:

An operator in the Gulf of Mexico had production from an offshore satellite platform shut-in due to paraffin plugging in the steel flow line. After chemical treatments were not successful, Specialty RTP’s RTP-Workstring jetting head was selected to “jet” the paraffin plug in this steel line that is approximately 8,000 ft in length. The technique deployed was a high-pressure jetting nozzle and Specialty RTP’s Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe (SRTP®) tubing run from a coil tubing unit.
