Installation of High-Temperature SRTP® in Southern Argentina

SRTP® Pipe Case Study

Installation of High-Temperature SRTP® in Southern Argentina

Background:

The oil and gas company operates fields in the southern Patagonia region of Argentina. The wells produce oil, gas, and brine with CO in excess of 25%. The flowing temperature can be as high as 194°F creating a severe corrosion issue for steel pipes. The company selected a high-temperature reinforced thermoplastic pipe (RTP) for installation to take advantage of rapid low-cost installation and to minimize ongoing corrosion issues.

The application for the pipeline is to tie in wells to tank batteries. These are generally short lengths from 2,500 to 6,500 ft.
